Blessing of the Animals – Sunday, October 30, 4:00 P.M.

Wendell Christian Church is inviting all our neighbors to join us for a gathering where we will unite our hearts and voices:

  • To express our gratitude for Creation and all the living things that sustain and share our lives.
  • To ask for guidance and help as we care for the earth and all living things entrusted to us as stewards.
  • To ask for the blessing of the animals who share our lives, provide us joy, and serve us faithfully.
  • No admission fee – We will talk up an offering to support Animal Rescue How to participate:
  • We will supply cards for you to identify the animals you love and seek a memorial, blessing, or prayer for a challenge he/she is facing.
  • You may bring your dog (on a leash) or cat, or other small animals (in a crate).
  • You may also bring a picture of your animals to place on our board for memorial and blessing. (4”x6” or smaller)

2023 Nominating Committee

Five members have agreed to serve on the Nominating Committee for 2023 subject to board approval at the October Quarterly Board Meeting. They are June Phelps, Briana Eddy, Tammy Fuller, Alice Hall, and Glenn Harris. We are hoping that you all will consider continuing to serve in 2023. If you are willing to serve and have special talents you wish to share on a particular committee, please contact one of the above individuals.

2023 Budget

The Stewardship and Finance Committee will be meeting soon to establish the church budget for 2023. Therefore, all committees need to meet to determine a committee budget for next year. Please give your budget request to Glenn Harris as soon as you can. A proposed 2023 budget should be ready for approval at the board meeting in October.

Harvest Day Festival – Saturday, November 5th

Wendell Christian Church will have a booth at the Harvest Day Festival in downtown Wendell, Saturday, November 5th, from 10 AM to 10 PM. We will need help setting up a tent at our booth at the Festival. Please spend some time at the Wendell Christian Church tent. This is a great way to share the love of God with others as we participate in this community function. Please wear your WCC t-shirt! If you can sit at our tent, give out water, and talk to passersby about WCC, please see Ann Harris or Donna Wall to schedule a time. Please come by our tent and support this effort to become more of a part of our community. You just may get to enjoy music provided by a special guest. This is a wonderful outreach sponsored by the Evangelism Committee.

Children In Foster Care – Sunday, November 6th

The Disciples Women’s Fellowship will meet on Sunday, November 9th in the Fellowship Hall following Morning Worship Service. A light lunch will be served and we will be working on our ”Children in Foster Care” outreach project.
We will be putting together bags of toiletries, and other desired items. We will be collecting pillowcases and pillows also. All women are welcome.

Some Children in Foster Care are having to live in Wake County Office Buildings. Social Services is asking us to provide them with a small toiletries bag and a pillow and pillowcase. Also, a small journal with a pen would be an added extra. There are less than 10 children in this situation now but they would welcome additional items to share upon admission of additional children.

There is a box labeled for toiletries in the Fellowship Hall. Small to medium bottles of shampoo, body wash, and deodorant would be great. These children are usually the “older” children – pre-teens or teens who are hard to place in a foster home. We will put these items in zip lock bags on November 9th at our meeting after church. Our goal is to get at least 25-30 sets of items to give them.

The pillows can be brought (purchase them in plastic bags and leave the bags on to indicate they are new) and bring to the Fellowship Hall in advance, too. If you are purchasing a pillow case that we need to “spiff up”, please get them to us by November 2nd. If you have additional questions, please contact Gayenell Gull.

Recycle Reminder

Recently someone put their household trash in the church recycle bin. Please put only recyclables in the recycle container. Please do not put recyclables in with the regular trash. Please Recycle. The list of recyclables is on the wall in the kitchen.

Martha’s Compassion Box

The CACS Committee sponsors WCC’s Martha’s Compassion Box. This is a “take what you need and leave what you can” compassion box for community residents. The box will house books for both children and adults, toiletries, and nonperishable food items. Individuals are welcome to contribute. Unfortunately, more has been taken lately than has been left. We still have an adequate supply of powdered milk and applesauce but are very low on other items. Please contribute what you can but NO perishables.

Welcome Back, Children!

WCC is welcoming back our children. Each Sunday we will have someone go back with the children after the children’s sermon. They will enjoy a story from their Spark Story Bible that aligns with the morning message. We would love to see your children. We have a sign-up sheet on the sanctuary piano for those willing to spend some time on a Sunday with our children. If you would like to find out more about our fall plans, please contact Summer Smith, Melanie Pepon, or Tammy Fuller.

Children’s Bible Story Videos

The Education Committee will be creating Bible Story videos to share with the community throughout the summer.  We would love to have some guest readers so our children can feel connected to our entire community.  Please contact Tammy Fuller if you would be willing to read a story for our children.  (No worries if you don’t know how to create one, our team will help you with that!) Click here for this week’s story.

Contact An Elder

The Elders are available to the congregation for prayer requests, suggestions, questions or concerns. Click here to send a message to one of our Church Elders.
