Homecoming – October 4, 2020

Homecoming is traditionally on the first Sunday of October. The church board met Monday evening, September 14, and voted unanimously to have Homecoming this year in the sanctuary on Sunday, October 4th.

The sanctuary will be cleaned professionally before and after Homecoming. We will follow the safety guidelines as to socially distancing and wearing masks. Hand sanitizers will be available. Prepackaged communion elements will be available or people can bring their own. The worship service will also be broadcast via Zoom, Facebook Live, and FM 91.1 as we have the past few months for those who may still be uncomfortable worshiping in our sanctuary. We also plan to have a TV on the front porch if people want to they can participate in our worship outside through Zoom.

After the Homecoming morning worship, we plan to have lunch on the front lawn on sanitized tables and chairs or people can bring their own table and chairs.

Our meal will be catered by David With’s food truck “And Also with ‘Cue”. (For the record, David donates a percentage of his profits to help feed the homeless in Raleigh.) David will prepare boxed lunches. Or you can bring your own meal.

“And Also with ‘Cue” Food Truck has given us a quote for his menu:
$10 for bar-b-cue chicken plate with BBQ beans, slaw and bread and a canned soda
$11 for Carolina pork bar-b-cue plate with BBQ beans, slaw and bread and a canned soda
$12 for brisket plate with BBQ beans, slaw and bread and a canned soda

You can also choose from these sides: seasoned green beans, corn salad or candied sweet potatoes

Each family needs to let Glenn Harris or Thresa Henderson know their preferences as well as pre-paying for their food truck meal choice. The catered meal is optional and is not mandatory. If it rains that day, we can simply take the box lunch home.

As this is the first Sunday back in our church building, the Board will meet again on October 7, 2020, to address any issues, answer questions and determine a date on which we can continuously meet for worship.
