In-Person Worship – Please wear a mask!

We are strongly encouraging anyone attending in-person worship at the church to wear protective face masks and to keep a distance of 6 feet from others, except members of your immediate family. We are all aware that caution to the highest level is necessary with these new variants. If you are not feeling well or have what might be considered minor symptoms, please stay at home for your safety and the safety of others.

Lent and Easter Activities

Wednesday Lenten Devotions: Beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd, and each Wednesday during Lent we will host a devotion on Zoom and Facebook Live at 12:15 PM. Each devotion will last 15-20 minutes so all can fit it into their day. We will focus on the scripture and thoughts of the day from the Lent Devotions book Steadfast Love: Inspiration from Henri Nouwen. All are invited to join us using the same Zoom link as worship and on our Facebook page WCC Together. You may pick up your Lent Devotions book Steadfast Love: Inspiration from Henri Nouwen at the church on Sunday or let us know and we will deliver one to you. You can leave a message on the church voicemail or email Virginia Mora. Please include your phone and address.

Good Friday, April 15th: We will have a Communion Service in our sanctuary at 12:15 PM. All are invited to attend in person, on Zoom, and on our Facebook page WCC Together. There will be a sandwich luncheon following the service. All are welcomed.

Easter Day, April 17: We (Wendell Christian Church) will be leading the Easter Sunrise Service at the town square at 6:30 AM! More details later. Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us for any or all of our Lent gatherings.

Elders Meeting – Thursday, April 21

There will be an Elders meeting on Thursday, April 21st at 7 PM in the Fellowship Hall.

Board Meeting – Wednesday, April 27

The Quarterly Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27th at 7 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall. Committee Chairs should be prepared to give written reports.

Martha’s Compassion Box

WCC’s Martha’s Compassion Box is sponsored by the CACS Committee. This is a “take what you need and leave what you can” compassion box for community residents. The box will house books for both children and adults, toiletries, and nonperishable food items. Individuals are welcome to contribute. Unfortunately, more has been taken lately than have been left. We still have an adequate supply of powdered milk and applesauce but are very low on other items. Please contribute what you can but NO perishables, please.

174th Regional Assembly – Saturday, April 23rd

The Christian Church (DOC) in NC Regional Assembly will be on Saturday, April 23rd at SouthPark Christian Church, 6650 Park South Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210. The theme will be “Vital Conversations: Hearing Other’s Stories!” Our church is entitled to three voting delegates and three alternate delegates. Resolutions should be submitted to the Regional Office by January 22nd, 2022. Delegate registration should be received at the Regional Office by March 6th. Everyone is invited to attend this one-day Regional Assembly. Let Gayenell Gull know if you would like to be a delegate.

Welcome Back, Children!

WCC is welcoming back our children. Each Sunday we will have someone go back with the children after the children’s sermon. They will enjoy a story from their Spark Story Bible that aligns with the morning message. We would love to see your children. We have a sign-up sheet on the sanctuary piano for those willing to spend some time on a Sunday with our children. If you would like to find out more about our fall plans, please contact Summer Smith, Melanie Pepon, or Tammy Fuller.

Children’s Bible Story Videos

The Education Committee will be creating Bible Story videos to share with the community throughout the summer.  We would love to have some guest readers so our children can feel connected to our entire community.  Please contact Tammy Fuller if you would be willing to read a story for our children.  (No worries if you don’t know how to create one, our team will help you with that!) Click here for this week’s story.

Wednesday Morning Online Bible Study – 10:30 A.M.

The Wednesday Morning Bible Study meets Wednesday mornings at 10:30 AM. You may participate on ZOOM or in person in the Fellowship Hall. If you choose to come in person, please wear a mask. We will continue our study of Genesis. Please share this with those who do not use the computer. This is a community Bible Study so feel free to invite others to join us. Looking forward to seeing each of you on Wednesday. Led by Virginia Mora and June Phelps.
