In-Person Worship Beginning March 14
Due to a recent change by the state with regard to the number of people who can attend indoor activities, the Church Board approved opening the sanctuary for in-person worship on Sunday, March 14th subject to these guidelines being followed, such as social distancing, wearing masks, etc. Individuals will be needed to serve in various capacities to ensure that safety protocols are followed and to help with sanitizing when needed. No-contact masks, gloves, sanitizers, communion cups, and contribution trays will be available in or near the Narthex. Our regular streaming service via Zoom and Facebook Live will continue for those who can’t or don’t wish to attend in-person.
Wednesday Prayer Gatherings Begin May 5
Wendell Christian Church will host a Prayer Gathering each Wednesday from Noon to 1 PM beginning May 5 for any who wish to pray and/or learn to pray. We will use the book: “Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Home” by Richard Foster to inform our learning and our praying. These books are available in the church sanctuary – the cost is $5 each.
It will be led by Pastor George. Others will also lead from time to time. Participants will be encouraged to read the chapter for each week and abide by the group covenant which will be read and affirmed at the beginning of each gathering. Each gathering will be available on Zoom so people can participate from work or home if they can not gather in person. A recording of the teaching time will be made available through the website but the sharing and prayer time will not be recorded. An introduction will be offered during the first gathering on May 5. We will have some simple food available to make participation in person more likely for all who are working or having a busy day. The meal will be planned for those who sign up by emailing Pastor George by 5 PM on the Monday before each Wednesday. All who seek a deeper experience of prayer and spiritual awakening in Jesus Christ, are welcome.
Children’s Bible Story Videos
The Education Committee will be creating Bible Story videos to share with the community throughout the summer. We would love to have some guest readers so our children can feel connected to our entire community. Please contact Tammy Fuller if you would be willing to read a story for our children. (No worries if you don’t know how to create one, our team will help you with that!) Click here for this week’s story.
Children’s Sunday School Resumes on June 6th
We are looking to welcoming back our children beginning on June 6th. So, we are looking for volunteers to help in the nursery as well as with our young children this summer. There will not be a lot of preparation required on your part. We simply want to have someone available during worship to make the children and their families feel loved and wanted. You would love the babies and with the older children, you could share the Bible Story video or read one of your own choosing. With summer coming on we don’t anticipate a large number on any Sunday but we do one to provide a meaningful experience for them and their families.
We also are looking for individuals that would be willing to help us with the children’s time on Sundays beginning in the Fall. We would love to know your interest and how often you would be willing to help. Please click here to take you to the survey that will let us know your interest in volunteering.
Martha’s Compassion Box
Martha’s Compassion Box is sponsored by the CACS Committee at Wendell Christian Church. This will be a “take what you need and leave what you can” compassion box for community residents. The box will house books for both children and adults, toiletries and nonperishable food items. Schedule for maintaining supplies: Please sign up to maintain this project for the month of February. Individuals are also welcome to contribute.

COVID-19 Resources
The COVID-19 outbreak has been accompanied by a flood of misinformation from unreliable sources. Be thoughtful about what you read or hear about the virus and make sure you are separating rumor from fact before you act. Click here for additional information and resources.
COVID-19 Testing
Wake County is now conducting drive-thru COVID-19 testing at numerous locations. Some sites have been operating for months, others are moving every week as they try to reach communities throughout the county. This free service provides an easy and efficient way for residents to learn if they have the virus. Click here for more information. There is no cost and no appointment required for most locations. Walk-ups are welcome at all of our drive-thru testing sites! The above link is updated often with new locations so check it often.
Financial Assistance Needed with Utility Payments, Rent, Mortgage?
Finding help during a housing emergency just got a lot easier for Wake County residents. Instead of trying to locate housing resources on their own or calling multiple agencies for assistance, they can now call one phone number for any urgent housing needs.
“For many, homelessness is a symptom of an even greater underlying problem,” said Wake County Commissioner Sig Hutchinson. “The House Wake! Access Hub will not only help our most vulnerable residents get off the streets into a safe place to live, but it will also link them with the resources they need to address other issues such as unemployment, poor health or addiction.”
Those needing assistance can call 919-443-0096 or email HW_AH@partnershipwake.org. Click here for more information.
Reports and Bulletin Updates
Various financial reports, as well as other useful information, are on a table in the Fellowship Hall. Please email Sunday Bulletin updates to Glenn Harris by Friday each week.
