Did we miss something?
Church members are welcome to leave a comment at the bottom of this page if you have a new announcement or if there’s something we’ve missed.
Contribute to Wendell Christian Church
Although some of us cannot be physically together during this COVID-19 pandemic, our ministries and church expenses continue and your financial support is greatly needed and appreciated. Click here to make an online contribution, or you can mail your contributions to WCC, PO Box 874, Wendell, NC 27591-0874. To download the Gively smartphone app, click here. Once you have it installed on your phone, put in zip code 27591 for your location and search for Wendell Christian Church.
2022 Budget
The Stewardship and Finance Committee will be meeting soon to establish the church budget for 2022. Therefore, all committees need to meet to determine a committee budget for next year. Please give your budget request to Glenn Harris as soon as you can. A proposed 2022 budget should be ready for approval at the board meeting in October.
Board Meeting – Wednesday, November 3
The Quarterly Board meeting will be Wednesday, November 3rd, in-person in the Fellowship Hall at 7 PM and via Zoom. Login via Zoom the same as you do on Sunday. Committee Chairs should be prepared to give written reports.
Help Needed – Saturday, October 30
Wendell Council of Churches is sponsoring a Town-wide food drive to support our community food pantry. Your help is needed to pick up bags on Saturday, October 30th that were put out the previous Saturday. This is our opportunity to show our faith and collectively serve our community. Please plan to come out and participate in this worthwhile annual mission of caring and support. This should not take more than 30-45 minutes. Please plan to meet at our church around 9 AM on Saturday, October 30th.
Shaping Our Future Together in Christ
We are looking for input from each member of the congregation in order to better understand the needs and hopes among us. We would greatly appreciate your response, using the below questions as a guide:
- What do you like about Wendell Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)?
- What hopes do you have for Wendell Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)?
- What challenges do you see or experience within Wendell Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)?
- Please share any of your memories and historical knowledge of Wendell Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that we may collect.
Please share your feedback by emailing your response to the email address published in the printed bulletin, leave a written response on the entrance table in the sanctuary, or let us know if you would like to speak with a team member directly. Thank you!
October Sermon Series
A Sermon Series to Share with Everyone! Pastor George will do a series of sermons during October titled, “Why I Love Being a Christian”. He will highlight five of the hallmarks of being a disciple of Jesus and how each finds expression in the life of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ. You can invite your friends who want to know what we believe and even those who believe they don’t want to be Christian. They may be surprised by what the Christian church has to offer! They can join us in person, on Zoom, on Facebook, and watch recordings anytime from the website.
2022 Nominating Committee
Anyone interested in serving on the 2022 Nominating Committee, please contact Gayenell Gull.
Martha’s Compassion Box
Please do not put perishable food items in this Compassion Box. Several perishable food items have been left recently and have been ruined in the heat and had to be thrown away. Martha’s Compassion Box is sponsored by the CACS Committee. This is a “take what you need and leave what you can” compassion box for community residents. The box will house books for both children and adults, toiletries, and nonperishable food items. Church members are welcome to contribute. Excess contributions are kept in the west wing library and put out as needed. Many thanks to Marty Greer and the handiwork of Andy Hanna for making this dream come to life.
Welcome Back, Children!
WCC is welcoming back our children. Each Sunday we will have someone go back with the children after the children’s sermon. They will enjoy a story from their Spark Story Bible that aligns with the morning message. We would love to see your children. We have a sign-up sheet on the sanctuary piano for those willing to spend some time on a Sunday with our children. If you would like to find out more about our fall plans, please contact Summer Smith, Melanie Pepon, or Tammy Fuller.
Pastor Appreciation Month
October is National Pastor Appreciation Month–a time set aside to recognize the contributions and service of pastors, priests, reverends, ministers, and all other clergy members. The second Sunday in October is Pastor Appreciation Day and we appreciate all you do to serve our church family. From the most joyous duties such as your role in marriages to baptisms to the emotional duties such as ministering to the hurt, imprisoned, and abandoned, YOU guide the Lord’s people by providing light to those around you. Our prayers are with you this day and all the days of your ministry. Thank you, Pastor Fuller, for all your services, and may God bless your ministries.

In-Person Worship – Please wear a mask
The WCC Board has “met” virtually and although Wendell is not including in the new indoors “mask mandate” most of Wake County is.
We are strongly encouraging anyone attending in-person worship at the church to wear masks upon entering and exiting the building. When seated (in family groups appropriately spread at a distance around the sanctuary) if you need to remove your mask, please do so only when seated.
In addition, please remember to keep a distance of 6 feet as you enter and exit the church. We are all aware that caution to the highest level is necessary with these new variants. If you are not feeling well or have what might be considered minor symptoms, please stay at home for your safety and the safety of others.
Wednesday Morning Online Bible Study – 10:30 A.M.
The Wednesday morning Bible study is taking a break until the fall when school starts back.
Children’s Bible Story Videos
The Education Committee will be creating Bible Story videos to share with the community throughout the summer. We would love to have some guest readers so our children can feel connected to our entire community. Please contact Tammy Fuller if you would be willing to read a story for our children. (No worries if you don’t know how to create one, our team will help you with that!) Click here for this week’s story.
Listen to Sermons and Weekday Devotions
Audio recordings and sermon outlines are available here. Weekday Devotions (Wednesday Mornings at 7:30 A.M.) are available here.
Contact An Elder
The Elders are available to the congregation for prayer requests, suggestions, questions or concerns. Click here to send a message to one of our Church Elders.
COVID-19 Resources
The COVID-19 outbreak has been accompanied by a flood of misinformation from unreliable sources. Be thoughtful about what you read or hear about the virus and make sure you are separating rumor from fact before you act. Click here for additional information and resources.
COVID-19 Testing
Wake County is now conducting drive-thru COVID-19 testing at numerous locations. Some sites have been operating for months, others are moving every week as they try to reach communities throughout the county. This free service provides an easy and efficient way for residents to learn if they have the virus. Click here for more information. There is no cost and no appointment required for most locations. Walk-ups are welcome at all of our drive-thru testing sites! The above link is updated often with new locations so check it often.
Reports and Bulletin Updates
Various financial reports, as well as other useful information, are on a table in the Fellowship Hall. Please email Sunday Bulletin updates to Glenn Harris by Friday each week.
