Homecoming Luncheon

The TGIF Committee is planning a catered meal from Jersey Mike’s in Knightdale following the Morning Worship on Homecoming Sunday, October 2nd.  A selection of 4 different cold subs will be provided, along with chips and a cookie. Tea and water will also be available. In order to get the proper number of meals, TGIF needs a headcount of all who plan to join us for lunch no later than Wednesday. September 29th. Please email your intentions, along with the number in your group, to TGIF Chair Thresa Henderson. Weather permitting, we will dine outdoors, otherwise, we will dine in the Fellowship Hall.

October Sermon Series

A Sermon Series to Share with Everyone! Pastor George will do a series of sermons during October titled, “Why I Love Being a Christian”. He will highlight five of the hallmarks of being a disciple of Jesus and how each finds expression in the life of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ. You can invite your friends who want to know what we believe and even those who believe they don’t want to be Christian. They may be surprised by what the Christian church has to offer! They can join us in person, on Zoom, on Facebook, and watch recordings anytime from the website.

Martha’s Compassion Box

Please do not put perishable food items in this Compassion Box. Several perishable food items have been left recently and have been ruined in the heat and had to be thrown away. Martha’s Compassion Box is sponsored by the CACS Committee. This is a “take what you need and leave what you can” compassion box for community residents. The box will house books for both children and adults, toiletries, and nonperishable food items. Church members are welcome to contribute. Excess contributions are kept in the west wing library and put out as needed. Many thanks to Marty Greer and the handiwork of Andy Hanna for making this dream come to life.

In-Person Worship – Please wear a mask

The WCC Board has “met” virtually and although Wendell is not including in the new indoors “mask mandate” most of Wake County is.

We are strongly encouraging anyone attending in-person worship at the church to wear masks upon entering and exiting the building. When seated (in family groups appropriately spread at a distance around the sanctuary) if you need to remove your mask, please do so only when seated.

In addition, please remember to keep a distance of 6 feet as you enter and exit the church. We are all aware that caution to the highest level is necessary with these new variants. If you are not feeling well or have what might be considered minor symptoms, please stay at home for your safety and the safety of others.

Wednesday Prayer Gatherings

Wendell Christian Church will host a Prayer Gathering each Wednesday from Noon to 1 PM beginning May 5 for any who wish to pray and/or learn to pray. We will use the book: “Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Home” by Richard Foster to inform our learning and our praying. These books are available in the church sanctuary – the cost is $5 each.
It will be led by Pastor George. Others will also lead from time to time. Participants will be encouraged to read the chapter for each week and abide by the group covenant which will be read and affirmed at the beginning of each gathering. Each gathering will be available on Zoom so people can participate from work or home if they cannot gather in person. Videos of the teaching time are available here. An introduction will be offered during the first gathering on May 5. We will have some simple food available to make participation in person more likely for all who are working or having a busy day. The meal will be planned for those who sign up by emailing Pastor George by 5 PM on the Monday before each Wednesday. All who seek a deeper experience of prayer and spiritual awakening in Jesus Christ, are welcome.

Wednesday Morning Online Bible Study – 10:30 A.M.

The Wednesday morning Bible study is taking a break until the fall when school starts back.

Children’s Bible Story Videos

The Education Committee will be creating Bible Story videos to share with the community throughout the summer.  We would love to have some guest readers so our children can feel connected to our entire community.  Please contact Tammy Fuller if you would be willing to read a story for our children.  (No worries if you don’t know how to create one, our team will help you with that!) Click here for this week’s story.

Children’s Sunday School Resumes on June 6th

WCC is welcoming back our children. Each Sunday we will have someone go back with the children after the children’s sermon. They will enjoy a story from their Spark Story Bible that aligns with the morning message. We would love to see your children. We have placed a sign-up sheet on the piano for those willing to spend some time on a Sunday with our children. If you would like to find out more about our summer or fall plans, please contact Summer Smith, Melanie Pepon, or Tammy Fuller.

COVID-19 Resources

COVID-19 Resources

The COVID-19 outbreak has been accompanied by a flood of misinformation from unreliable sources. Be thoughtful about what you read or hear about the virus and make sure you are separating rumor from fact before you act. Click here for additional information and resources.

COVID-19 Testing

Wake County is now conducting drive-thru COVID-19 testing at numerous locations. Some sites have been operating for months, others are moving every week as they try to reach communities throughout the county. This free service provides an easy and efficient way for residents to learn if they have the virus. Click here for more information. There is no cost and no appointment required for most locations. Walk-ups are welcome at all of our drive-thru testing sites! The above link is updated often with new locations so check it often.

Financial Assistance Needed with Utility Payments, Rent, Mortgage?

Finding help during a housing emergency just got a lot easier for Wake County residents. Instead of trying to locate housing resources on their own or calling multiple agencies for assistance, they can now call one phone number for any urgent housing needs.

“For many, homelessness is a symptom of an even greater underlying problem,” said Wake County Commissioner Sig Hutchinson. “The House Wake! Access Hub will not only help our most vulnerable residents get off the streets into a safe place to live, but it will also link them with the resources they need to address other issues such as unemployment, poor health, or addiction.”

Those needing assistance can call 919-443-0096 or email HW_AH@partnershipwake.org. Click here for more information.

Reports and Bulletin Updates

Various financial reports, as well as other useful information, are on a table in the Fellowship Hall. Please email Sunday Bulletin updates to Glenn Harris by Friday each week.
